Hawks hope to rebound in Milwaukee

Basketball Betting Lines

04/26/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Atlanta Hawks will have to cure their postseason road woes if they hope to take control of their Eastern Conference quarterfinals series with the Milwaukee Bucks tonight.

The Hawks have dropped 15 of their last 16 playoff games away from Dixie, including Saturday's 107-89 blowout loss to Milwaukee in Game 3 of this set.

John Salmons scored 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting and had seven assists in that one. Jerry Stackhouse came off the bench for 16 points, while Brandon Jennings chipped in 13 and Luc Mbah a Moute 12 for the Bucks, who trail 2-1 in the series.

Veteran Kurt Thomas, starting for the injured Andrew Bogut, had 13 rebounds and Dan Gadzuric 10 boards for Milwaukee, while Luke Ridnour and Ersan Ilyasova each scored 11.

"Our goal was to come out with a lot of energy, intensity, get back to playing like we know we can," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "We did that for huge stretches of the game."

Milwaukee, in the playoffs for the first time since 2006, hasn't made it out of round one since 2001 when the Bucks lost to Philadelphia in the conference finals. Since then, they've lost three straight opening-round series.

Joe Johnson had 25 points to pace Atlanta, which shot a miserable 39.1 percent from the field and was a dismal 3-of-15 from three-point range.

The Hawks' frontcourt duo of Josh Smith and Marvin Williams struggled mightily, going just 3-of-19 from the floor.

Smith had shot a gaudy 71 percent in the first two games of the series and was just one assist away from a triple-double in Game 2. Skiles responded by using his best defensive player, Mbah a Moute, on Smith, who was just 2-of-12 in the game and scored seven points.

Reserve center Zaza Pachulia had 16 points in Game 3 while Jamal Crawford had 11 and Al Horford 10 for Atlanta.

"They were the most physical team and it showed on the scoreboard," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. "We just didn't match any of their physical (play) to start the game. It put us in a whole right at the start."

Atlanta went 2-1 against Milwaukee in the regular season. The two clubs met three times in the postseason back in the 1980s, with the Bucks taking two of the sets in '83-84 and '88-89. The Hawks lone win came in the '87-88 season.

Game 5 of the best-of-seven set is slated for Wednesday back in Atlanta.
