Aztecs scale the Mountaineers in upset

WVU, which failed to convert a single three-point attempt in the first half, shot only 32 percent from the floor and 5-of-10 at the free-throw line in the frame, leaving the squad with a 28-21 deficit at the break.

In the second half the Mountaineers made good on 54.5 percent from the floor, but at the same time SDSU converted an even 50 percent of its chances, allowing the underdog to secure the nine-point victory.

West Virginia shot just 13-of-22 at charity stripe and was guilty of 18 turnovers.

With the victory San Diego State is now set for a meeting with second-seeded Duke in the round of 16 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis this weekend.
