Suns try to set on Pacers in the desert

Basketball Betting Lines

03/06/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Phoenix Suns hope to get back on the winning track Saturday when they resume a season-long seven-game homestand against the lowly Indiana Pacers at US Airways Center.

The Suns dropped the opener of the residency versus Utah on Thursday when Deron Williams scored 13 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter, helping the Jazz erase a double-digit deficit in the final frame en route to an emphatic 116-108 decision over Phoenix.

Amare Stoudemire ended with a game-high 30 points to go with seven rebounds, but Phoenix blew an 11-point lead in the final stanza to fall for just the second time in its last nine games.

Steve Nash handed out 15 assists in addition to scoring 14 points, while Jason Richardson added 22 points and seven boards for the Suns, who are fifth in the Western Conference playoff race.

"They did a great job of executing down stretch, and we struggled a little bit of getting the ball in the basket and making plays," Suns head coach Alvin Gentry said. "You have to give them all the credit, it's not so much what we didn't do, it's more so what they did do."

The Pacers hope to finish a four-game road trip Saturday in the desert on a positive note and have lost five in a row away from Conseco Fieldhouse.

Indiana dropped a 122-114 decision in Denver on Friday, as Danny Granger ended with 32 points and Troy Murphy had 14 to go with nine rebounds in defeat. Roy Hibbert and Brandon Rush scored 12 points apiece for the Pacers, who have dropped 10 of 12 games overall.

"We know we're not having the season we would have liked," Granger said. "We're just trying to be professional about everything and win games."

The Pacers are 7-26 outside of Indy this season.

Surprisingly, Indiana has won two straight over the Suns after dropping the previous seven in the series.

Brandon Roy Favorite to Win 2007 NBA Rookie of the Year

Portland TrailBlazer’s guard, Brandon Roy, is MySportsbook.com’s overwhelming favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year odds.

Despite missing 20 games due to an injury earlier this season, Roy has definitely put up the best numbers of his 1st year peers. In 32 games, Roy is averaging 15.3 PPG, 4.2 boards and 3.5 assists in over 33 minutes of play per game. While most rookies breakdown as the season progresses (see Morrison), Roy is only getting stronger as his playing time and scoring average has increased each month.

With 30 or so games left in the regular season, Roy isn’t a lock for the award by any means. Other rookies are putting together some pretty impressive campaigns and a few could give Roy a run for the award with increased playing time. Heading the list is first pick, Andrea Bargnani of the Toronto Raptors. Even though he has started only two games all season, Bargnani is averaging 10.3 PPPG while shooting 35% from deep.

Randy Foye of the Minnesota Timberwolves could be set to give Roy the best competition NBA Rookie of the Year betting lines. With the benching of Mike James, Foye looks like he could be the starter in the T-Wolves backcourt for the rest of the season. So far, Foye has averaged 9 PPG and 2.4 assists in just under 21 minutes per game. With his new role of starter, Foye’s numbers will definitely increase. In his first game as the new starting guard this past Sunday, Foye had 10 points; five rebounds and 8 assists. More importantly, he logged 34 minutes of playing time; his third highest run of the season.

Adam Morrison, of the Charlotte Bobcats, was the favorite early on in the season after averaging 15+ PPG through the first month of the season. Ever since his torrid start, Morrison’s point production has declined each month. This really isn’t surprising, considering at 6’8” he only weighs 205 lbs. Obviously he will need to hit the weights big time during the off-season in order to keep from breaking down in the future.

MySportsbook.com favors Bears, Bengals, Chargers and Colts to remain perfect

LAS VEGAS , Sept. 28 - Two big match-ups of undefeated teams have fans salivating at the Week Four schedule in the NFL. The Chicago Bears stifling defense looks to provide a less than hospitable welcome to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the NFC conference. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers (2-0) head to Maryland to face the surprising Baltimore Ravens (3-0) as both try to keep pace atop the conference standings. Betting Lines makers at MySportsbook.com, online sportsbook and casino, have set the Bears as 3.5 point favorites while the Chargers are a 2.5 point bet.

Of the three remaining undefeated teams, only one, New Orleans, enters this week's game as an underdog. Despite an emotional and resounding win over Atlanta on Monday night, the Saints are a 7.5 point underdog against the struggling Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis looks to stay perfect when they face the New York Jets as a 9 point road favorite while the Cincinnati Bengals are a 6 point favorite at home to the New England Patriots.

Six teams enter the week still looking for their first win, with a seventh, Tampa Bay, on a bye week. The prospect of dropping another game would not bode well for a potential playoff run. Since 1990, just three teams -- the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1998 Buffalo Bills -- have overcome losing their first three games of the season to earn a postseason berth. And only the Chargers managed to accomplish the feat after starting 0-4.
