Banged-up Blazers visit reeling Pacers
Basketball Betting Lines
12/09/2009 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Portland Trail Blazers will resume a four-game road
trip tonight, when they take on the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Portland has lost four of its last five games overall, and opened the trek
with Monday's 93-84 setback against the New York Knicks at Madison Square
Garden. Brandon Roy had a game-high 27 points for the Blazers, who were coming
off an exciting win over Houston on Saturday that was tempered by the loss of
center Greg Oden. The oft-injured former No. 1 overall pick will miss the rest
of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a fracture in his left
patella.
"It just seems like we didn't have enough to get over the top," said Roy. "We
have to re-evaluate our game and maybe be a lot more aggressive early in
games, play with a lead. That way we're not behind the '8' ball into the
fourth quarter."
LaMarcus Aldridge registered 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Jerryd Bayless
scored 14 points for the Blazers, who will also visit the Cavaliers and Bucks
on the swing and are 5-5 away from the Rose Garden this season. Portland will
be without head coach Nate McMillan for the rest of a four-game trip after he
ruptured his right Achilles' tendon during practice. He underwent surgery this
week and will not accompany the team on the rest of the trip. Guard Rudy
Fernandez is expected to miss almost six weeks because of lower back surgery.
Indiana has lost five straight and will open a brief two-game homestand
Wednesday versus the Blazers and Nets. It is 4-5 as the host this season and
is coming off Saturday's 88-72 setback against the Los Angeles Clippers in the
finale of a four-game road trip at Staples Center.
Danny Granger had 11 points for Indiana, but played just 18 minutes due to a
bruised right heel. He is slated to miss the next four to six weeks of action.
Troy Murphy led the way with 13 points for Indiana, which also received 12
points from Roy Hibbert and 10 points from Mike Dunleavy.
"We had trouble making baskets. We turned the ball over too much," said Pacers
coach Jim O'Brien. "We didn't have enough fire power tonight."
The Pacers have lost nine of their last 10 games overall.
Portland won both matchups with Indiana a season ago, but the Pacers are 10-6
in the previous 16 meetings between the teams. The Blazers have lost six of
the last eight visits to Conseco Fieldhouse.
