Gallardo was put on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to a strained left
rib cage muscle.
Gallardo suffered the injury during the third inning of Sunday's 7-1 loss at
St. Louis. On the same day, Gallardo was named an All-Star for the first time
in his career, but now the 24-year-old right-hander will have to miss the mid-
summer classic.
For the season, Gallardo has compiled an 8-4 record with a 2.58 ERA in 18
games.
The Brewers also activated pitcher Doug Davis from the 15-day DL on Tuesday.
Davis, who has been sidelined due to a mild case of pericarditis, an acute
inflammation of the lining around the heart, is scheduled to return to the
rotation for Friday's home game against Pittsburgh.
Davis is 1-4 with a 7.56 earned run average over his first seven starts of the
season.
