Arizona State, Texas, Florida clinch Super Regional spots

06/07/2010 - Fullerton, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Arizona State, Texas and Florida were among the teams advancing Sunday to the NCAA Baseball Super Regionals.

The top-seeded Sun Devils advanced out of the Tempe Regional thanks to an 8-4 victory over Hawaii. The Sun Devils will host the winner of the Fayetteville Regional in Super Regional action next weekend.

Tyler Thompson homered three times and drove in six runs in Florida's 15-0 win over Florida Atlantic, giving the Gators the title of the Gainesville Regional. The Gators will host the winner of the Coral Gables Regional, which will be decided Monday night between top seed Miami-Florida and Texas A&M.

Cody Regis' three-run homer in the eighth inning lifted UCLA over UC Irvine, 6-2, as the Bruins captured the Los Angeles Regional. UCLA will face either No. 1-seed Cal State Fullerton or No. 4-seed Minnesota in Super Regional play next weekend. The Fullerton Regional will be decided Monday night between those two teams.

LSU, the defending College World Series champion, was beaten by UC Irvine, 4-3, Sunday and thus was eliminated from competition.

Texas advanced to the Austin Super Regional thanks to a 4-1 victory over Rice Sunday. Oklahoma advanced to the next round after beating North Carolina, 3-2, to take the Norman Regional. Florida State made it to the Super Regionals after a 5-3 win over Oregon to take the Norwich Regional.

South Carolina scored six runs in the sixth inning, on the way to a 10-2 victory over Virginia Tech to earn a spot in the Super Regionals. TCU earned a 9-0 win over Baylor Sunday night to win the title of the Fort Worth Regional.

St. John's defeated Virginia 6-5 Sunday night to force a deciding game Monday between the schools in the Charlottesville Regional.

No. 2 seed Vanderbilt won twice on Sunday, including a 7-0 triumph over top seed Louisville. That set up a rematch Monday night with the top-seeded Cardinals hoping to get out of their own regional.

Elsewhere, top seed Georgia Tech will play Alabama Monday in the final of the Atlanta Regional. Auburn, the top seed in its regional, takes on Clemson Monday night to see which team goes to the Super Regionals. Top seed Arkansas battles Washington State Monday night in the final of the Fayetteville Regional. The College of Charleston faces Coastal Carolina Monday afternoon in the final of the Myrtle Beach Regional.
